What does it mean to be human? This is the great question and angst of the famous series Star Trek. So many of their characters deal with this issue from Mr. Spock, Data, and Seven Of Nine. Now what does Star Trek have to do with “An Essay On Man,” an epic poem by the famous Alexander Pope? Pope dealt with this issue in “An Essay On Man.” It’s all about what does it mean to be a human being. Also, Alexander Pope believed in aliens, and rumor has it that he met some. So if you find these topics interesting please come to this unusual and very interesting program.
Star Trek fan, author and current lodge President, Brian Burns was heavily influenced by the spirituality of Zen Buddhism. His latest book is Kwan-Yin Heart.

We will also discuss Divine Mothers as universal figures who appear in different forms in all religions including Isis as mentioned by H.P.B. in “Isis Unveiled”, Mother Mary, Tara, Kwan Yin, Parvate, and Kali-Ma.
Brian Burns was heavily influenced by the spirituality of Zen Buddhism and is the author of Kwan-Yin Heart and other books. He continues to guide and support the lodge as our President.
