November 2026 Gatherings
“To live to benefit mankind is the first step.” ~ H. P. B.
Support your spiritual truths because unsupported they no longer exist. We support resonant groups by attending gatherings, becoming members and serving to keep the group active, and/or by financial offerings. In-person gatherings assist us in recognizing our humanness, in voicing our needs and coming together in energetic ways that technological ways do not. Gatherings are open to the public. Programs are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Join us at Thubten Kunga Ling (located in the Cove Shopping Plaza, in the teal colored building upstairs), at 201 S.E.15th Terrace, Suite 207, Deerfield Beach, FL. 33441. Learn more about the venue by visiting this link: https://thubtenkungaling.org

“Mahabharata”
with Janani Cleary
In this presentation we will be exploring the content of a text called the “Mahabharata” which tells the story about the Kauravas and Pāṇḍavas who were the rulers of Hastinapura, a kingdom in norther India 5000+ years ago and who became engaged in a battle to stop destructive wrong living that would doom everyone, i.e. it’s a classic tale of good vs. evil. It contains over 100,000 shlokas (verses) which makes it the longest epic poem ever written, roughly ten times the length of the Iliad and the Odyssey combined.
It was written by Sage Veda Vyāsa, the single most influential and largest contributor to the Vedic culture which is otherwise known as Sanatana Dharma.
Why is such an ancient text studied? Because every single human challenge and condition that anyone can encounter in life is demonstrated in this story. It establishes that even though times change, human nature does not. Thus, the problems faced thousands of years ago are the same problems that we face today – only the circumstances are different.
In this presentation we will look at some of those stories to understand how we can face our own problems. We will also touch on how, in the Bhagavad Gītā (which appears in the middle of this epic story) Lord Kṛṣṇa provided Arjuna, a Paṇḍava and the leading righteous warrior with guidance and a vision that helped Arjuna to face all of his challenges and to rise above and be totally free of them with awareness and the right understanding. During this presentation, meditation will also be done to reinforce this understanding.
As a yoga teacher in New York City, Janani’s discovery of Vedanta occurred quite by accident when she met Swami Chinmayananda and was persuaded by him to fully explore what is behind the practice of yoga. She traveled to Sandeepany Sadhanalya in Mumbai where, under the brilliant tutelage of Pujya Swami Dayananda, Janani completed a full course of study and received certification in 1978. She has been actively and successfully teaching Vedanta classes in numerous formats ever since. Janani also serves on our Board as Member at Large.

No special athletic ability is needed and most methods may be practiced in either a seated or standing position. Wear comfortable clothing.
Ken Frankel has been practicing qigong for over twenty years and has traveled to many places in the United States and Canada to learn it. He has completed three 200-hour trainings and many briefer ones. Ken began teaching qigong classes at our lodge in 2018 and currently serves on the Board as Vice President 2.
